Katherine Day Tour

  • $157.00

  • - Obligation Free
Head to an area with more to offer than just the beautiful Katherine Gorge. The gorge is the highlight but so is the history of the Adelaide River and Pink Creek areas. Swim under the refreshing Edith Falls also before returning to Darwin.

Leaving Darwin you will travel south through tropical country, passing former WWII airstrips en route to Adelaide River. You will make a short stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, a site dedicated to those killed in the air raids in Darwin in the 1940's. Continuing to Edith Falls, where there is time for a refreshing swim. After lunch (available for purchase) you join a 2 hour scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge (seasonal) in Nitmiluk National Park, with a chance to see fresh water crocodiles sunning themselves on the banks of the river.

Your tour of the first two gorges takes you past sheer rock walls and requires a short walk to reach the second gorge. Enjoy a brief tour of Katherine, the third largest town in the Territory and hub of the region's cattle and farming industries. Travel via Pine Creek where you see old chinese diggings and historical buildings, before an evening stop is made at Adelaide River where you may purchase dinner (own expense). You may like to sample the famous 'Barra and Chips', before returning to Darwin.
