2 Day Kimberley Gorges Escape

DEPARTS: Broome FINISH: Broome NO OF DAYS: 2 Day TOUR CODE: KIMWIL ACCOMMODATION: Camping, Lodge or Motel AGE: Open GROUP SIZE: max 24 DEPARTS: Wednesday DAY 1 Departing Broome at 7:00am, we travel to the famous Geike Gorge. Along the way, you will see giant Kimberley Termite mounds, boab trees and the mighty Fitzroy River. At Fitzroy Crossing we depart on a National Parks Ranger guided cruise along Geike Gorge to capture the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife. Towards sunset, we arrive at the Fitzroy River Lodge where you have the choice of camping under the Kimberley night sky, Safari cabin (with ensuite) or motel room accommodation. Relax as your guide prepares a traditional campfire barbeque dinner. DAY 2 After breakfast we travel to Tunnel Creek, a 750-metre cave system carved through the Napier Range, a Devonian reef system 350 million years old. Here, we explore stalactites, a large diversity of wildlife and ancient Aboriginal rock-art. We also hear of the legend of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal freedom fighter who used the Tunnel as a hideout in the late 1800's. Then it's off to Windjana Gorge for a delicious lunch to search for freshwater crocodiles and marvel at the stunning natural beauty of this oasis of the outback. Travelling trough Kimberley cattle country, you will see the infamous 'Boab Prison Tree' and the historic town of Derby enroute to Broome arriving at approximately 6:30pm |
